Every summer even before I got the job at the Fayetteville Free Library during the summer patrons expect an over the top amazing Fancy Nancy Party! There is always a chocolate fountain with a variety of dipping options, fancy juice, music and of course dress up. Usually girls learn some fancy words and play some fancy games, but this year I wanted to make sure making was a part of this party!
That is where the Fancy Nancy Tutu Tea Party came about! Girls were invited to come to the library in their fanciest outfits (including the librarians) and hear some Fancy Nancy stories and eat fancy foods and fancy iced tea and pink lemonade! After partying hard doing all of the above it was time to make! I found a great craft on Pinterest http://www.pinterest.com/pin/43487952625439962/ with simple instructions on how to make your own tutu! We lined up each girl and measured their waists with a piece of ribbon and left about 4 inches on each side so they could tie their tutu’s when they were finished. i had pre cut pieces of tulle in pink, purple, and blue and each girls got a bunch. With the help of librarians and parents they tied their tulle on to their ribbon and created some really cool tutu’s! It was a great experience and next year we plan on adding more maker activities to the program!
