About Meredith

Meredith Levine knew she wanted to work in libraries after her first week volunteering at the Jefferson Market branch at the New York Public Library. She never thought librarianship would be the path she would go down, however it was the first job she ever had where she never looked at the clock and it was a new challenge every day.

Meredith received her Masters in Library Science with a Specialization in School Media from Syracuse University in 2013. During her time at Syracuse University she was the Public Relations Assistant at the Fayetteville Free Library. Here, Meredith helped promote programs through social media, designed flyers and web content with Adobe Creative Suite, interacted with the community and led programs. Before graduating Meredith got promoted to her current position, the Director of Family Engagement.

As the Director of Family Engagement Meredith wears a number of hats. She is in charge of planning and assessing the children’s nonfiction and fiction collection along with the audiobook and DVD collection. Meredith successfully transitioned the children’s nonfiction into a dewey hybrid to make browsing nonfiction easier. Meredith is in charge of school aged children’s programs varying from book clubs to STEAM programming like Creation Club Jr. and Lego Brainstorm. Meredith also oversees and trains volunteers in grades 1-5. Currently Meredith is overseeing the implementation of a week long summer camp program for girls in grades 3-5, Geek Girl Camp. Along with the daily Family Engagement work Meredith also assists in the FFL Fab Lab, reference desk and personal one on one training with patrons of all ages.

Meredith is interested in STEAM programming, community engagement and creating life long library users. 9565872952_163e3aa5ef_k Skills:  Windows and Mac operating systems, Web 2.0, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Hootsuite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, Quickbooks, Polaris Systems, Digital Video Production and Editing, GoPro, WordPress, Webinar and Conferencing Software, 3D printing, 3D design, Podcasting Project Planning, Marketing, Management, Assessment, Social Media, Storytelling, Leadership, STEM Programming, Classroom Management, Grant Writing, Collaboration, Team Player Skills, Web and Database searching Event Planning, Promotions, and Public Speaking
